ABOUT “GRE SUBJECT” TEST

“GRE subject test” is conducted to test your knowledge on a particular subject area which also determine your apprehension and ease of that subject. In order to achieve a good score on the GRE Subject Test, you should have a appreciable amount of knowledge and a large background in that particular subject. Usually, students become well known with a subject during their undergraduate years by either majoring in or taking a number of classes in that field. Therefore, students typically choose to take GRE test in their department of study.  GRE EXAM PATTERN FOR PHYSICS-

When you start preparing for the Physics subject test you must collect as much information as possible about the test from dependable resources. The Physics Subject Test is among the eight subject tests that are conducted. The physics section consists of 100 multiple choice questions. The questions checks your subject knowledge. Some of the questions are calculation based but there will no tough question that will require use of calculator. Logarithm table is not required. IF logarithmic values are required for some question then in that case corresponding values will be given along with the questions.

The Physics subject test consists of 8 main ares-: Classical Mechanics (20%), Electromagnetism (18%), Optics and Wave Phenomena (9%), Thermodynamics and Statistical Dynamics (10%), Quantum Mechanics (12%), Atomic Physics (10%), Special Relativity (6%), Laboratory methods (6%) and Specialized Topics (9%). These classifications can not be explicit and independent of each other there shall be some questions in the Physics test which will be related with more than one of these content areas.

Physics is highly dependent on mathematics subject.When you will appear for the physics test you will have to apply mathematical knowledge as well.So keep your mathematical concepts clear. These concepts  include single and multivariate calculus, coordinate systems (rectangular, cylindrical and spherical), vector algebra and vector differential operators, Fourier series, partial differential equations, boundary value problems, matrices and determinants and functions of complex variables.
