1.     Calcutta Medical College and Hospital:-

This college was established in 1835 and was the first medical college of Asia. It has been enjoying the reputation of best medical college since ages.

2.     Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital:-

This college was established in 1921 as National Medical Institute. It was affiliated under University of Calcutta till 2003. Now it has gone under West Bengal University of Health Sciences.

3.     Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research:-

This college is also known as P G Hospital or S S K M Hospital. It is also referred as government hospital and is also a national research institute. The hospital part of it was established in 1707. Sir Ronald Ross made his discovery of “Cycle of Malarial Parasite” in this hospital for which he was awarded Nobel Prize.

4.     Nilratan Sarkar Medical College and Hospital:-

In the year 1887, a market building was converted to Sealdah Municipal Hospital. In 1873 it got converted to Sealdah Municipal School. Then it became Campbell Medical School in 1884 from which it got converted to Campbell Medical College in 1948. Then finally in 1950 it got renamed to Nilratan Sarkar Medical College.

5.     R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital:-

This is also one of the oldest medical college and tertiary care hospital of Kolkata. It was established in 1916 by Dr. Radha Gobinda Kar after whom the name of the college was given.

6.     Bankura Sammilani Medical College:-

This college was established in 1956 by Bankura Sammilani Trust which was later taken over by Government of West Bengal in 1961. Since 2003 it is affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Sciences.

7.     Burdwan Medical College:-

Established in 1969 in the Burdwan district of West Bengal, this college was under University of Burdwan as Burdwan University Medical College. It was later taken over by the government of West Bengal and renamed as Burdwan Medical College.

10.   North Bengal Medical College, Darjeeling:-
