Biomass Energy:

Biomass is defined as a material which is mostly found in living organisms. It can be plant, bacteria and animal material.

We know that  , plant takes energy from the sun in form of photosynthesis and generate biomass.

A very good example of biomass energy is wood. The wood is burned to produce heat and therefore it generates biomass energy.

Biomass Energy can also be defined as any kind of energy that uses organisms like plant or animal as its source.

First let us know about “biomass”

       Biomass:

Biomass is a term which is derived from living organisms.

Biomass is a renewable energy source.

Biomass is converted to some other type of energy product i.e., biofuel. This coversion can be done in three ways i.e., thermal, chemical and biochemical.

      Biomass Energy System:

Biomass energy is defined as any type of organic materials which can burned  and this burned materials is used as a source of fuel.

Characteristics of Biomass Energy:

Biomass fuels consists of three main parts i.e.,wood,waste and alcohol fuels.

Wood is the common method of biomass. Earlier, wood is burned because of cooking. Generally wood is used to generate electricity.

Trash which comes from plants  turns waste into a source of energy. Waste energy comes from garbage which is used to produce electricity and also from collection of methane gas from landfills

Alcolol fuels refer to ethanol which is used in transportation sector.

Few related questions and answers:

Q1. What is biomass?

Ans. Biomass is defined as a material which is mostly found in living organisms. It can be plant, bacteria and animal material.

Q2. Define Biomass Energy.

Ans.  Biomass Energy can also be defined as any kind of energy that uses organisms like plant or animal as its source.

Q3 Write the characteristics of biomass energy.

  1. patlakshi Jha says:

This article comprises about the biomass energy and characteristics. Energy should be conserved and it should not be wasted. There are mainly two types of energy – renewable and non- renewable. We should stop the use of non-renewable energy sources as they would get replenished.

  2. Rachita Mishra says:

Biomass is biological material from living, or recently living organisms, most often referring to plants or plant-derived materials. As a renewable energy source, biomass can either be used directly, or indirectly once or converted into another type of energy product such as biofuel.About Biomass energy is explained here.
