FUEL AND COMBUSTION:- KNOCKING

 KNOCKING:-

Knocking is sharp sound produced due to the premature combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder. It causes overheating of the spark plug points, erosion of the surface of the combustion chamber and rough and inefficient operation. It can be avoided by adjusting the compression ratio and burning time of the engine and by burning gasoline of higher octane number.

FUEL AND FUEL COMSUMPTION:-

It is known that something which can be burned and the energy released from that burn can be converted into other form of energy like mechanical energy.

Fuel comsumption gives the exact measure of amount of pounds used to produce horse power that an engine produces.

COMBUSTION:-

It is a sequence of exothermic chemical reactions taking place between  a fuel and an oxidant with the production of heat and light in the form of flames

 ADVANTAGES OF FUELS:-

1) Biomass reduces required for fossil fuels which helps in the production of heat, stream and    electricity for agricultural and household use.

2) The use of wasste material generally reduce disposal and provides more space for other purposes.

3) When biomass fuel is burned CO2 is released and thus plants takes it in.

DISADVANTAGES OF FUELS:-

1)    Agricultural waste will not be produced if there is no growth of basic crops.

2)    Additional work and more efforts are required for harvesting method.

3)    For some cases it is the major cause of pollution.
