The Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) is a quite popular  entrance exam for MBA .The recognized colleges under the various universities of Karnataka offers the MBA and MCA courses through KMAT. This exam is conducted by an entrusted body Karnataka Private Postgraduate College Association ,for those wanting seats in the management quota.

Eligibility: Candidates who have completed any three-year bachelor’s degree after 10+2 from any recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks in their aggregate of all subjects including languages, are eligible for this exam.

KMAT Exam Pattern & Format:

KMAT Exam is an object type multiple choice question based paper. This exam includes following three tests-

1. Test for MBA,
2. Test for MCA,
3. Test for MBA and MCA (Combined)

Exam Pattern for MBA.

Total No. of Section: This paper consists of 3 sections- Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, and Basic Aptitude.

Total No. of Questions: 120

Time Duration: 3 hrs.

Exam Pattern for MCA.

Total No. of Section: This paper consists of 3 sections- Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills and Logical Reasoning.

Total No. of Questions: 120

Time Duration: 120 min.

Pattern for MBA & MCA(Combined).

Total No. of Section: This paper consists of 4 sections- Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Basic Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.

Total No. of Questions: 160

Time Duration: 3 hrs.

KMAT Syllabus for Language comprehension:

This section is mainly used to test the vocabulary of the student and the general ability to understand English. This section of the paper has maximum scope for further enhancement. It includes:

• Reading comprehension
• synonym
• Antonym
• Preposition
• Tenses
• Essay Writing

KMAT Syllabus for Mathematics:

This segment of the paper deals with reasonable form of aptitude problems. This slice basically tests the candidate’s ability to deal with aptitude problems. It includes:

• Number
• Algebra
• Height and distance
• Probability
• Profit Loss
• Percentage

KMAT Syllabus for Logical Reasoning:

This division of the question paper tests the ability of the candidate to determine the truth behind any conclusion based on certain rules.  Data are present in the form of tables, graphs and charts. The Logical Reasoning questions are asked on the common topics such as:

• Coding-Decoding
• Linear and Circular Arrangements
• Data Interpretation
• Analogies
• Dot Situation
• Blood Relation
• Venn Diagram
• Data Sufficiency
• Analytical and Critical Reasoning
• Questions based on case lets

KMAT Syllabus for Basic Aptitude:

This section can be described as General Knowledge section. Here questions are asked on basic management and computer concepts. Most of the questions are static and few are dynamic as well. This section includes:

• Current Affairs, Business, Punch line of companies, Top officials of big companies, Major corporate events
• Famous award and prizes
• World Records
• Books and authors
• Science, History, Geography, International organizations
• Important quotations
• Social issues, Sports, Finance, Automobiles, Entertainment, Politics, etc.

Preparation Tips:

• Prepare a time table and allot time to each subject / topic .
• Clear you basic Mathematical Concepts and the best way to do that is to solve Class 10th and 12th Math problems or use some specific study material. Also try to remember as many formulas as possible. Learn formulas by writing and not mugging up as we tend to remember the written things for long.
• Solve lots of puzzles / quizzes to improve your reasoning and analytical skills.
• Increase your speed and accuracy. For this solve as many sample papers and take as many mock tests as possible and observe the time taken to solve each section.
