Although India started its management education with private management college XLRI in 1949 but soon after that government launched its management education with first MBA program from west Bengal in 1953 from IISWBM. Although you will get list of top government run management colleges any where in which IIM’s would be at top of chart in all general occasions with one or two competitors in between but we have tried to bring top government management colleges with low fee structure.
Top government Management colleges in India:-
Rank.1 – IIM Ahmedabad
Although , considered as top Business school of India after ISB Hyderabad and is government controlled but fee structure is too high and with total seat intake of 382 and fee of Rs 14.4 lakhs
Rank.2 – IIM Bangalore
Another top Business school controlled by government of India although an autonomous body of IIM’s run it but major control is of Indian government has fee structure of Rs 13.3 lakhs
Rank.3 – IIM Kolkata
With fee structure of 8.3 lakhs for 2 year course is better according to me in terms of affordability.
FMS: Faculty of management science at top of government run management colleges I would like to put FMS , which has 228 seats and fee structure for general candidate is as low as Rs 45000 which is affordable by any standards for top Business schools in India and this makes it true government run Business school. Although any one can claim that after getting admission to top management colleges government provides easy loan but then even in some cases it becomes difficult.
Rank.4 – JBIMS
Jamuna Lal Bajaj institute of management science would be next in list of top Business schools being run by government and charges fee of Rs 200000 for 2 years course. Although there are few more government run business schools being run by government of India or state governments whose fee structure is less than that of JBIMS but Industry standards of JBIMS is far better in comparison to those colleges even if we compare them on matrix of fee. That means fee is not that high or difference in fee is not that huge that quality of education may be compared or discriminated.
Rank.5 – DMS IIT Roorkee
I would like to put Department of Management science IIT Roorkee at this position because of enhanced quality of education at very nominal charge of Rs 70000 for 2 years course , which clearly indicates government funding at this level of education , where standards of IIT are being maintained at such low fee.
Rank.6 – PUMBA
Department of management science Pune university is another top level management college which has low fee structure due to enough of government funding and fee at PUMBA is as low as Rs 65000 per year for a general candidate and its half that is Rs 32500 for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Rank.7 – IRMA
Institute of Rural Management Ananda is another government run management college and probably one of its kind management college which focus on rural management business. Although its fee structure is higher than rest other management college in list apart from IIM’s but fee of Rs 420000 in two years is acceptable by any standards for such quality education where it includes food and lodging charges as well.
Rank.8 – NITIE
National institute of industrial Engineering is one of top management colleges in country and focuses on engineers only . Fee structure of NITIE is Rs 500000 for two years management course including all expenses
Rank.9 – VGSoM
Vinod Gupta School of Management is also one of best management college in India funded by government , it slipped in chart here just because of its high fee structure , If fee would have been compared then it would have gained upper position in list of top management colleges funded by government. Its fee is Rs 500000 for two years
