List of Engineering Entrance Exams in India

1: BITSAT-Engineering is the most popular course after intermediate. BITSAT is the entrance exam for BITS Pilani campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad Engineering Entrance exam is conducted every year at the National level.

2: AIEEE-All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). It used to be organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It will be known as Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) henceforth. It is a national-level competitive test for admission.

3: ENAT-Manipal Institute of Technology, known as MIT. It is a state-level entrance exam. Manipal University is an ISO 9001-2000 certified University. The test papers in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and General English include questions based on the 10+2 syllabus followed by major 10+2 Boards/Universities. ENAT Group II applies to B.E/B. Arch applicants.

4: VITEEE-Vellore Institute of Technology(VIT) is one of the nation’s best private engineering colleges. The VIT entrance exam is conducted all over India. VIT Offers  Admission to B.Tech, M.Tech and program-based courses.

5: NAT-National Aptitude Test is a common aptitude test that is conducted by different higher education institutions. The test is conducted for the students at the undergraduate & postgraduate level.

6: GATE-Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)is an all-India examination. It is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science on behalf of the National Coordination Board. Candidate must have a degree in B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch/ MSc./ M.A./ MCA equivalent.

7: PACET– Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) conducts the Planning and Architecture common entrance exam. The entrance exam is conducted on a national level. It is the most popular university in India.

8: ATIT ATIT is an All India Admission Test conducted by the Federation of Universities (Feuding). Students mostly take admission in B.Tech. Admissions are based on scores secured in ATIT 2011/ AIEEE 2011. Students aggregate 50% in the 10+2 examination.

9: WAT-The exam WAT-AWES is for the category Engineering and is conducted at the Engineering level. Written Admission Test is conducted by the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) for admission to Hotel Management, Law, Fashion Design, Dental Sciences, Engineering, and Education (B.Ed.) in various Indian Army institutes.

10: MERI Entrance Exam- It is a national-level entrance exam. The exam MERI is for the category engineering.

11. AMIE-AMIE is conducted for various engineering degree courses for the student. the exam will be national level.

12: NEATLovely Professional University conducted to national-level aptitude test. it is the largest university in India.

13: The exam NATA is for the category Engineering and is conducted at the Engineering level. The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a national-level examination for admission to undergraduate courses in Architecture.

14: ECET The exam ECET FDH is for the category Engineering and is conducted at an Engineering level. Students can opt for Civil, Electrical, Mechanical (including Automobile, Packaging Technology, Printing Technology & Foot Ware Technology), Computer Engineering (including Special Diploma) , Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation, Bio-Technology, and Pharmacy courses.

15: UPSEE: Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8th May 2000. U.P.T.U is currently located in the I.E.T. Campus at Sitapur Road in Lucknow.it is provided to the various types of courses i.e MCA, MBA, B.TECH, HOTEL MGMT, B.ARCH.

16: COMEDK:  Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka is the association of Private Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka.

17: IIT JEE Main Exam: IIT JEE Main Exam will be conducted in two ways, online and offline, online exam is to be conducted from 8th of April where as the offline exam will be conducted on 7th April at different centers across India.

18. IIT JEE Advance Exam: Candidates who will qualify from IIT JEE Mains exam will take the Advance exam on 2nd June 2013 which will be only offline

19. Amrita University : Amrita University eengineering exam is to be conducted on 21st of April and result dates have not been announced as of yet

    To get students into a certain program and also for selection of students for admission purposes, educational institutions give entrance tests. Universities, colleges and institutions have certain criteria and admission policies according to which they take in students. The whole concept of entrance exams can be said to be competition and to take in the cream into the system.
    Such entrance exams are very much prevalent in India where there are some entrance tests conducted on the level of medical, engineering and law etc. Apart from these, there is number of tests that held on prominent basis as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, All India Engineering/Architecture/ Pharmacy Entrance Exam, AIMS Test for Management Admission, SLIET Entrance Test, National School of Drama Screening Test, Joint Entrance Examination, Graduate School Admission Test and the National Aptitude Test in Architecture.

    Entrance to most professional courses in Indian universities (both private and government) is based on multiple choice question entrance exams.Some of these exams (particularly the IIT JEE, CAT and AIPMT) are considered among the toughest in the world, with lakhs of students competing for a few thousand seats.
    Engineering schools in India usually admit 15% of their students through the national-level AIEEE and the remaining 85% based on their scores in the entrance exam conducted by the state in which the college is located.
