The CBSE Class 10 Hindustani Music (Vocal) marking scheme for 2017-18 applies to a 30-mark theory paper and 70-mark practical exam. It outlines value points for ragas, taals, notation, and vocal techniques from the prescribed syllabus.

Theory scoring covers ragas like Bhairav or Yaman (features and aroha-avaroha, 5 marks), taals such as Teentaal or Rupak (structure and notation, 4-5 marks), forms like Dhrupad or Khayal (3 marks), and biographies of vocalists or gharanas (2 marks).

Practical marks (70) include performance of one prescribed raga (20 marks for vilambit and drut khayal with aalap and taans), another raga (15 marks), improvisation like taans or sargam (10 marks), notation writing (10 marks), and viva-voce on swaras, ragas, and taals (15 marks).

Examiners award stepwise credit for swara accuracy, rhythm, bol-taan purity, expression, and elements like meend, gamak, or murki.
