Every year millions of students (NRI) in India try to get admission to top medical colleges and universities in India. But few of them get selected for top-rated universities. Indian students who stay outside India should be aware of MCI guidelines for medical college admission under the NRI quota.  There are so many private and government colleges that provide seats for NRI. Although fewer seats are available NRI students can get sufficient seats.

There are so many reputed and world-famous medical colleges like AIIMS that not only offer seats to NRI students but are open to international students from all across the globe.

NRI quota is available in these colleges and some colleges charge more than $80000 tuition fees. This fee does not include other costs like living expenses, other fees, and additional charges. Here in this guide, we have provided detailed information about the NRI quota in Indian private and government colleges and universities, eligibility, fee structure, admission process, and much more.

Many students try to get the MBBS seat with the NRI quota, but the NEET implementation has led to huge price hikes in the medical seats. The NEET also saw the MCI (Medical Council of India) bringing medical admission under the state government. It prompted the DMER (Directorate of Medical Education and Research) to reveal the medical college NRI fee structure to the public. So, the students trying to secure a coveted medical seat under the NRI quote need to shell out a total of 90 lakhs-1.88 crore INR.

Eligibility and the Process Involved

Students willing to get MBBS admission in the NRI quota must have the following eligibility;

  • They must not complete 21 years of age on 1st July of the respective academic year.
  • They must attend the NEET examination and secure the basic marks for qualifying.
  • The students must have a blood relative father/mother/brother/ uncle/sister/brother abroad to qualify for NRI status.

Once the students write the examination and get the pass marks, they need to get the following documents;

  • Get the NRI status certificate of the person acting as the financial supporter of the student from the Embassy of the respective country with their seal.
  • The NRI bank account passbook of the student’s financial supporter.
  • Financial supporter’s Passport
  • Financial supporter’s nativity certificate.

Students need to look at the right college to get the actual fee structure and the process involved to get admission in the NRI quota. This information can be very important for every student who wants to study in India and looking for eligibility criteria and fee information.

This is all about the important things that you should know. If you are a non-resident Indian and want to pursue an MBBS in India, then it would be the best option for you.  There are lots of medical institutions that are open for NRIs so you need not worry about it.
