Eligibility in brief

A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university and must have qualified the J&K Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination 2025. Domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is required. The age window, calculated as on 1 January 2025, is up to 32 years for open merit, 34 years for reserved and in service candidates, and 35 years for persons with benchmark disability.

JKPSC KAS Mains exam pattern

The selection process has three stages. The objective preliminary test screens candidates, the written Main examination tests depth, and the interview assesses personality.

The Mains is a descriptive examination with eight conventional essay type papers. It covers compulsory papers in language and general studies along with the chosen subjects. Strong answer writing, clear structure and accurate facts decide the score at this stage. Candidates who train with the best IAS coaching in Delhi often adapt the same answer writing discipline to state services like KAS.

Download your admit card on time

Admit cards will appear on the official portal from 15 June. Download the hall ticket, check your name, photograph, exam centre and reporting time, and carry a valid photo identity document. Verify every detail on the official site at jkpsc.nic.in and report any error immediately.

Last stretch preparation strategy

With only a short window left, switch from learning to consolidation.

  • Revise, do not expand: stick to notes you already trust and avoid new sources now.
  • Write daily: attempt full length answers within the time limit to build speed.
  • Focus on J&K specifics: prepare the geography, economy, culture and governance of the Union Territory.
  • Strengthen current affairs: cover national and regional developments of the last twelve months.

Keep a healthy routine in the final week. Sleep well, eat light and rehearse your exam day plan. Useful reference titles for state PCS descriptive papers are available through stores such as recommended state PCS books. Aspirants who want structured mentoring can also explore guidance from experienced PCS mentors.

Conclusion

The JKPSC KAS Mains is a test of clarity, consistency and calm execution. Download your admit card on 15 June, revise from trusted notes, write answers daily and stay focused on Jammu and Kashmir specific topics. A disciplined final stretch can turn months of effort into a place in the merit list. For more state service updates, keep following our state PCS exam coverage.
