The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission has completed the State Service Main Examination. The Mains was conducted from 6 June to 9 June 2026 after being rescheduled from its original May window. With the written stage now behind them, candidates are asking the same two questions. When will the result come, and what should be done in the meantime? Here is a practical roadmap.
CGPSC State Service Mains: Quick Recap
- Mains exam dates: 6 June to 9 June 2026
- Original schedule: 16 May to 19 May 2026, later postponed
- Vacancies in this cycle: 239 posts including Deputy Collector and DSP
- Official website: psc.cg.gov.in
Candidates who appeared can refer to our earlier coverage of the CGPSC Mains schedule and exam day checklist for context on the paper structure.
When Will the CGPSC Mains Result Come?
CGPSC normally takes eight to twelve weeks to evaluate descriptive copies and publish the Mains result. That places the expected result window between August and September 2026. The Commission first releases a list of candidates shortlisted for the interview, roughly two and a half to three times the number of vacancies. Marks are disclosed after the final merit list.

What Serious Candidates Do in the Result Waiting Period
Week 1 and 2: Document and recall work
Write down your answers from memory, paper by paper, while they are fresh. This recall sheet becomes your most honest scorecard. Also collect and verify your documents now: graduation certificates, caste or category certificates, domicile proof. Interview calls leave little time for fixing paperwork.
Week 3 onward: Begin interview preparation
The CGPSC interview tests your clarity about Chhattisgarh as much as your personality. Build crisp notes on the state economy, tribal development programmes, forest and mineral resources, recent state budget highlights and flagship schemes. Read one national and one regional newspaper daily.
Mock interviews matter
Candidates who have faced even three or four structured mock panels perform visibly better. If you want professional mock interview panels and one to one mentorship, Plutus IAS runs interview guidance programmes for state PCS and UPSC candidates with retired bureaucrats and senior faculty. You can also compare interview guidance programmes across institutes on TheHinduZone.
Did Not Appear or Expecting a Reattempt?
If this attempt did not go well, remember that the next CGPSC notification typically arrives at the end of the year, with Prelims in February. That is a full preparation cycle away. Rework your answer writing, strengthen the Chhattisgarh specific portion, and pick standard sources. Printed notes and books for state PCS preparation are available at Online Khan Market.
Guidance for 2027 and 2028 Aspirants
Students planning their first CGPSC attempt in 2027 or 2028 should learn from this cycle. The exam calendar can shift, as this year’s postponement showed, so never plan your preparation around exact dates. The syllabus rewards aspirants who integrate state specific knowledge with general studies from the beginning. Start with NCERTs, add the Chhattisgarh special section early, and practise descriptive writing at least twice a week from your first month.
