The JoSAA 2026 Counselling process is moving fast, and every JEE qualifier needs to track each round closely. After the JEE Advanced 2026 result was declared on 1 June with more than 54,000 qualifiers, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority began counselling for admission to the IITs, NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutes. The Round 1 seat allotment is already out, and the next steps decide which institute and branch you finally secure.
JoSAA 2026 Counselling: Current Status
- Registration and choice filling ran from 2 June to 11 June 2026.
- The Round 1 seat allotment result was announced on 13 June 2026.
- Online reporting and document verification for allotted candidates is open till 26 June.
- The Round 2 seat allotment is scheduled for 30 June 2026.
How the Counselling Works
JoSAA conducts a common counselling through five rounds. Each round follows the same four steps, seat allotment, online acceptance, online reporting and document verification, and seat acceptance fee payment. Your locked choices and category rank decide the allotment, so order your preferences honestly from the most wanted branch and institute to the least.
Float, Slide or Freeze
After a seat is allotted you choose one of three options. Freeze means you accept the seat and stop upgrading. Float means you accept but stay open to a better institute or branch in later rounds. Slide means you stay within the same institute but look for a better branch. Pick the option that matches your real goal so you do not lose a seat you actually want.
Plan Your Next Move
