What To Do If You Get a Seat in Round 3

Candidates receiving a fresh allotment must complete online reporting between 6 and 8 July. This includes paying the seat acceptance fee, uploading documents and choosing Freeze, Float or Slide. Respond to any verification query from the reporting institute by 9 July, because an unanswered query can cancel the allotment. Candidates who accepted a seat in an earlier round and chose Float or Slide will see their seat upgrade automatically if a better preference opens up.

Freeze, Float or Slide: Choosing Wisely

Freeze your seat only when the allotted institute and branch are genuinely your final choice. Float keeps you in the race for every higher preference across institutes, while Slide restricts upgrades to the same institute. Remember that once you Freeze, you exit the upgrade process for the remaining rounds. Since two more rounds remain after Round 3, ambitious candidates with competitive ranks often keep Float active until Round 4.

Withdrawal Rules

If you decide to exit JoSAA counselling, the Round 3 withdrawal window runs on 7 and 8 July. Withdrawal remains available only up to Round 4, and there is no provision to withdraw once Round 5 begins. Candidates weighing a state counselling option or a private university offer should therefore finalise their decision before the Round 4 deadline.

Documents To Keep Ready

Keep scanned copies of the JEE Main and JEE Advanced admit cards and scorecards, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, category certificate where applicable, photo identity proof and passport size photographs. Fee payment works through net banking, UPI and cards, and candidates should avoid the last evening rush on 8 July.

Planning for JEE 2027 and 2028

Students currently in Class 11 and 12 should study this counselling calendar closely, because the pattern repeats every year. Your rank decides your choices, so the real work happens in the two years before JoSAA. Structured preparation with the best IIT JEE coaching for the 2027 and 2028 cycles builds both concepts and exam temperament. Families comparing options across cities can consult The Hinduzone for verified reviews of JEE and NEET programs, while practice heavy learners benefit from question banks and books available on Examophobia.
