The RPSC RAS notification has opened a fresh recruitment cycle for aspirants across Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Public Service Commission released the RAS and RTS Combined Competitive Examination 2026 notification on 27 May 2026, offering 607 vacancies. The online application ran from 4 June to 3 July 2026, and the Prelims examination is now scheduled for 29 November 2026. This guide covers the vacancy split, eligibility, exam pattern and a realistic five month study plan.
RPSC RAS notification: vacancy split
The Commission has divided the 607 posts across two broad groups. This split helps you understand the range of services on offer.
- State Services, which include the higher administrative and police cadres, carry 192 posts.
- Subordinate Services carry the remaining 415 posts.
Because a single examination covers both groups, candidates get access to a wide list of departments through one application.
Eligibility in brief
The basic conditions are straightforward. A graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university is the minimum qualification. The age band is 21 to 40 years as on 1 January 2027, with the usual relaxations for reserved categories. Final year students should read the official notice carefully, since the degree is generally required before the Mains stage rather than at the time of applying.
Exam pattern you must know
The selection runs through three stages, so plan for a long journey.
- Prelims is a single objective paper of 200 marks for three hours. It is only a screening test and its marks do not count in the final merit.
- Mains has four descriptive papers of 200 marks each, adding up to 800 marks.
- The Personality Test, or interview, is the final stage before the merit list.
The Prelims syllabus blends general studies, science and technology, and heavy Rajasthan focused content across history, culture, geography and economy, along with national and state current affairs.
Five month study plan for the Prelims
With the Prelims on 29 November 2026, you have a clean five month runway. Use it in phases.
- Months one and two. Finish the static syllabus of Rajasthan history, geography and polity with short notes.
- Month three. Cover general science, national issues and the Rajasthan economy while starting daily current affairs.
- Month four. Shift to full length mock tests and revise weak areas twice a week.
- Month five. Revise only, solve previous year papers and lock your exam temperament.
