1. Inter College Graduate Student Outreach Achievement Award

The Inter-college Graduate Student Outreach Achievement Award started in the spring of 2004 with a generous donation from the alumni including Steven E. and Alice R. Linberg. There was a matching commitment from University Outreach also.

This award recognizes outstanding degree candidates in Intercollege Graduate Degree Programs (IGDPs) who bring scholarships to the community to benefit society. The award encourages future scholars to promote public welfare and quality of life through their research.

 2.       Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award

The Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award recognizes graduate assistants for their outstanding teaching performance.  The Graduate School and the Office of the Vice President and Dean for Undergraduate Education jointly sponsor this award through the Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award endowment.

The program is open to graduate students who have served as graduate assistants for at least two semesters within the last two years. Degree candidates carrying the title of instructor are not eligible for this award.
Departments and graduate programs submit nominations to the nominee’s graduate officer or department head. The university awards ten recipients $500.

 3.       AT&T Graduate Fellowship

Penn State offers the AT&T Graduate Fellowship to recognize and support outstanding graduate students conducting research in wireless data applications. The University admits these students as graduate degree candidates. The Fellowship Selection Committee reviews applications, which are due March 1, and awards one $5,000 scholarship for disbursement the following fall semester.

The AT&T Graduate Fellowship is open to master’s and doctoral students who meet the following eligibility criteria:

– Conducting research in wireless data applications
– Registered as full-time, degree-seeking students for the upcoming fall semester

4.       Harold K. Schilling Dean’s Graduate Scholarship

The Harold K. Schilling Dean’s Graduate Scholarship recognizes outstanding graduate students whose course of study is relevant to science, religion, and ethics.

The university established this annual scholarship, with a minimum award of $2,000, in memory of Dr. Harold K. Schilling, professor and former dean of the Graduate School. Competition for this scholarship is open to graduate students who have achieved superior academic records or manifest promise of outstanding academic success and whose course of study is relevant to science, religion, and ethics

The selection committee will also consider graduate students whose research focuses on critical societal benefits, including:

– Improving health
– Protecting the environment
– Developing sustainable energy solutions
