Aeronautical Engineering Colleges in India

INTRODUCTION

Aeronautical engineering is one of the most popular course in engineering. There are several institutes that offer aeronautical engineering courses in India. Candidates who fulfill all the eligibility criterias get a chance to pursue their higher studies in these institutes. It is the primary branch of engineering concerned with design, construction and study of the science behind the forces and physical properties of aircraft, rockets, flying crafts and spacecraft. It is divided into two major and overlapping branches: aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering. The former deals with craft that stay within the earth’s atmosphere and the latter with craft that operate outside it. The field also covers their aerodynamic characterstics and behaviours, airfoil, control surfaces etc. It is not to be confused with the various other fields of engineering that go into designing elements of these complex crafts. For example design of aircrafts avionics, while certainly part of the system as a whole, would rather be considered electrical engineering or perhaps computer engineering, there is typically a combination of many disciplines that make up aerospace engineering. While aeronautical engineering was the original term the broader aerospace has superseded it in usage, as flight technology advanced to include craft operating outerspace. Aerospace engineering particularly the aeronautics branch is refered to as rocket science.

COURSES OFFERED

  • B.E(bachelor of engineering)
  • B.Tech(bachelor of technology)
  • Diploma in aeronautical engineering
  • Post graduate degree course in aeronautical engineering

ELIGIBILITY

In order to pursue B.E or B.tech course In aeronautical engineering in India, one needs to qualify the higher secondary examination with physics, chemistry and maths as compulsory subjects. It is also mandatory to qualify in the joint entrance examinations which iit conduct every year.

JOB PROPECTS

Aeronautical engineering courses in India imparts multi-faceted training to students in areas like manufacturing and development of aircrafts and missiles. An aeronautical engineer can also design, test and contribute to the development of advanced technologies in the field of defence and space science. In india aeronautical engineers are mostly employed by ISRO and defence ministry. One can also look for jobs available with the civil aviation department, national aeronautical laboratory, defence research and development laboratories and Hindustan aeronautics limited. A lot of job oppurtunities for aeronautical engineers are also available in the countries like united states of America, France, UK ,Germany. Therefore aeronautical or aviation engineers from india as well as from all parts of the world flock to these countries.a good percentage of Indians constitute the work force of engineers and technical professionals in NASA.

REMUNERATION

In general this is a very well paid job.on average the starting salary is closer to 60,000 per month and can go way up into six figures especially if you work for NASA.

As per the survey conducted by Outlook Magazine, India’s one of the famous magazines, below given colleges were rated as top Aeronautical Engineering Colleges in India. The rating was done on the basis of their placements, fees structure and results per year.

  1. SANJANA KUMARI says:

Aeronautical Engineering is the science involved with the study, design, and manufacturing of air flight-capable machines, or the techniques of operating aircraft and rocketry within the atmosphere. While the term—literally meaning “sailing the air”—originally referred solely to the science of operating the aircraft,it has since been expanded to include technology, business and other aspects related to aircraft. I think it is a very popular stream of Engineering now a days because every country across the globe is in need of developed and advanced air crafts and flying machines. I would suggest Engg. aspirants to opt for this stream and read the article for details of some of the good Aeronautical Colleges in India.

  2. SHRUTI PRIYA says:

AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING involves the design, construction and science of airplanes and space vehicles and uses computer technology in the design space extensively. AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING is a branch of aerospace engineering and encompasses aircraft design, construction and testing of aircraft, missiles and spacecrafts. Aeronautical engineering uses the science of propulsion and aerodynamics….. If you find this field interesting check this article out!!!!!

  3. Er Ketan Joshi says:

Aeronautical Engineering is an branch of engineering in which we were concerned with the design, construction, and science of aircraft and space craft. Basically aeronautical engineering divides in to two major field that is aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering in which aeronautical engineering concerned and deal with aircraft that operate’s on earth atmosphere and astronautical engineering deals with spacecraft that operates outside. In India their is an several colleges who can able to teach aeronautical engineering and aeronautical engineering will be really good exposure and excellent field to enhance our mind, thoughts.
Lasty, if we want to do something for our country so it is an wonderful field to choose as a career.

  4. Gourav Kumar says:

Aeronautical engineering is a very good prospect and career option is very good in this industry, also the course offers a wide range of flexibility so that a student can switch to various MNC’s. The article gives a complete list on various college of India which are best in teaching Aeronautical engineering.

  5. aratrika sengupta says:

Aeronautical engineering is the original term for the field. As flight technology advanced to include craft operating in outer space, the broader term “aerospace engineering” has largely replaced it in common usage. Aerospace engineering, particularly the astronautics branch, is often referred to colloquially as “rocket science”, although this is a popular misnomer. Flight vehicles are subjected to demanding conditions such as those produced by extreme changes in atmospheric pressure and temperature, with structural loads applied upon vehicle components. Consequently, they are usually the products of various technological and engineering disciplines including aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, materials science, structural analysis and manufacturing. The interaction between these technologies is known as aerospace engineering. Because of the number of disciplines involved, aerospace engineering is carried out by teams of engineers, each having their own specialized area of expertise.
With this concepts, our dreams run up to working in NASA, but India has catalyzed a lot even in this arena. Thus if ISRO is a platform you want to step into then this article is a must go through as it provides you the list where you find an organized structure about the colleges providing good coaches to Aeronautical engineering.
