Drishti IAS Mukherjee Nagar Plans Relocating to Noida
Drishti IAS, one of the most prominent UPSC coaching institutes in Mukherjee Nagar, has expressed its decision to shift its center to Noida. The move has come right after a safety-related mishap that finally reached its crescendo with the sealing of Drishti IAS Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, center by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi recently.
The immediate cause of this drastic action was the tragic event that took place last month in Old Rajinder Nagar, where three civil service aspirants died in a basement due to unsafe conditions. This led the MCD to take strict measures, which included the sealing of the basements of multiple coaching centers in that area.

The move by Drishti IAS comes at a time when a month ago, three civil services aspirants died in a basement in Old Rajinder Nagar due to flooding, which in turn led the MCD to seal basements of several coaching centers, including Drishti IAS in Mukherjee Nagar, citing safety concerns. “Mukherjee Nagar might become deserted soon if most coaching institutes have to relocate. Many buildings here do not meet safety and fire regulations,” a senior manager at Drishti told The Print.
He added that Drishti has been looking at various locations in Noida for its new center. “Several other coaching institutes are planning to move to the same area we are,” the manager said. The relocation, therefore, comes when there are rising safety concerns and regulatory pressures.
Impact on Mukherjee Nagar and Other Institutes
The impending relocation of Drishti IAS has left the people of Mukherjee Nagar in shock. More than 100 coaching institutes are facing similar problems relating to safety, and many are predicting shifting to new locations. Recent acts of MCD sent shockwaves as classes came to a complete halt and local business activities slowed down.
Quite expectedly, local tea stalls, stationery shops, and food kiosks in Mukherjee Nagar are already feeling the heat with the student count going drastically down.
Choices for Relocation of Drishti IAS Mukherjee Nagar Center
Drishti IAS is vigorously scouting for new places and is almost finalizing its new center in Noida. It said that the Noida campus will have modern facilities with the best safety features. “We’ve looked at several buildings, but our main goal is to ensure students can move easily. We plan to leave Mukherjee Nagar soon. We conducted a survey and found that Noida and Karol Bagh are the top choices for students. We’ve already started classes at our Karol Bagh center and are finalizing the Noida location,” the manager added.
Drishti IAS’s Deputy CEO Vivek Tiwari says, “We’re committed to providing a safe learning environment at our new Noida campus. The classrooms will have all necessary safety features, and the campus will be in an area with affordable housing and amenities.”

Broader Implications
A migration of major coaching institutes away from Mukherjee Nagar is likely to totally change the area’s character and leave it with fewer educational institutions, thereby affecting the local economy. Tightened safety regulations and increasing infrastructure concerns have made the future of Mukherjee Nagar quite precarious as far as coaching centers are concerned.
These developments reiterate that there is an urgent need for infrastructure and safety arrangements in IAS coaching in Delhi and its surroundings.
