Preparation of IAS 2020 along with engineering

UPSC is one of the most toughest exams in India to crack and if you want to start preparing for it along with engineering it is the biggest of all challenges as engineering is itself a tough career. So if you want to prepare for civil services along with engineering then you need to make a right time table and strategy where you can make enough time for preparation of both. The time table you make should be properly planned and should be strictly followed.

Planning and strategy

Proper planning and strategy is the only way to manage both of your career choices. If you study continuously for hours and hours then it may lead you to stress and frustration which would demotivate you and there are chances that you could give up. So make proper time table and manage time for both of your subjects. 4-5 hours for your UPSC preparation is enough per day if you set target and achieve it. These small targets per day will help you in achieving your goal. Also, try to concise your sources as there is unlimited ones and you should know the correct source of information. Then properly revise those and make notes which are short and will help you in the last moment. Do not buy too many books for each subject as it will stress you. So keep your syllabus concise and keep revising it again and again. You can also choose your optional related to your engineering subject as it will help you in your both subjects and will save a lot of your time .Practice for your essays with 1-2 of them daily and focus on your optional subject mainly. You should neither take your prelims too seriously nor too lightly and 3-4 month of preparation for it is enough. Also you need not stress too much as you almost 3 years to do your preparation which are more than enough. You can take it slow and steady and focus on engineering as much as it is required. There are people who do their preparation in a single year so 3 years are quite enough for you to do your preparation. Just keep yourself motivated and work hard with consistency and dedication and no one will be able to stop you in achieving your goal. Also you should make your time table with flexibility in which there is time for you to do other tasks or a continuous study will make you lazy and dull. But keep your first priority as graduation only as it is really important and you only have 3 years for it and take as much time you get for your UPSC preparation as you have enough time for it. Also, for the starting preparation keep your focus on basic syllabus only like NCERT books. Proper revision of these books will help you in creating a strong base for you and you will be able to find it less difficult in preparing for your future syllabus.

Family and mental health

When you prepare for two careers do not stress too much and always remember which one is your main priority and try to focus on that one more. The rest of your study time you can give to your other career choice. Also, do not study too much as it will harm your mental and physical health both. Give time to yourself and exercise daily and meditate for 10-20 minutes along with it. You should also give time to your friends and family and talk to them often. You should share with them how you feel and not keep suffering from your problems alone. Your family and friends will help you in solving your problems and motivate you when you feel low of yourself. Always remember that they are there for you all the time and will support you in your every situation.
