Indian revenue service is also one of the top most job in our country. (IRS) is the service under Grade A of the Central Civil Services of the executive branch of the Government of India. Indian Revenue Service has two parts, which are given below.

Indian Revenue Service (IRS) plays a vital role in the collection of taxes, mainly income tax and wealth tax. These two taxes are the major part of the tax in the whole country. This is 56% of all the tax.

1. IRS (Customer and central excise)-It is controlled by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).

2. IRS (Income tax)-It is controlled by the Central Board Of Direct Taxes (CBTD).

Recruitment:

The Union Public Service Commission conducts civil service exams to select direct candidates for IRS officer recruitment. Alternatively, the government promotes Grade B officers to Grade A after years of dedicated service, providing them with a well-deserved opportunity for advancement.

Training:

Firstly, the IRS Officers went to the foundation course for 3 months to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. After completing their course, IRS officers actively proceed to the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) in Nagpur for further training. The NADT then provides them with comprehensive training, covering various aspects of direct taxation  Also, the multi talented men they are. The IRS officers are best in each and every section.

Roles and responsibilities:

The Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers serve the country in many roles and responsibilities; some of the main roles and responsibilities are given below.

1. Tax Administrator – the main function of the tax administrator is to collect the tax from the people, and many of the tax administrators are working for this in many ways.

2. Black Money – Black Money is a very big issue in the country, and the IRS officers are working on it. They are searching for black money everywhere, and this is also the main responsibility of the IRS officers . The work of the IRS Officers are shown last year the Black money of the INR 10,000 carore they recover only in India.

3. Policy Formulation- The Policy formulation is also a main work of the IRS officers. IRS officers formulate appropriate policy interventions in Direct Taxes based on their field experience and other relevant inputs from various sources. They then submit these proposals to the Government through the CBDT.

4. Serving other Places– IRS officers also serve in other various fields like in Ministries, Departments, and other organizations instead of serving the Indian tax Department.
