INTRODUCTION TO GRID COMPUTING AND ITS APPLICATIONS
INTRODUCTION TO GRID COMPUTING AND ITS APPLICATIONS
DEFINITION OF GRID:-
It is a space bar that are parallel and crossed vertically to each other.
TYPES OF GRID:-
There are many types of grid like:-
1) COMPUTATIONAL GRID:- It acts as the resource of many computers in a network to a single problem at a time.
2) DATA GRID:- It deals with the controlled sharing and management of distributed data of large amount.
3) COLLABORATIVE GRID:- It is the grid which solves collaborative problems.
4) MANUSCRIPT GRID:- This grid works well when things are presenting in large continuous blocks of text or images.
5) MODULAR GRID:- This grid works well when columns alone don’t offer enough flexibility for complex problems.
GRID ACTIVITIES:-
– Grid shares many different kinds of resources which is transparent to the end user.
– It can solve many number of problems occurred in both science and industry.
– The grid development was done in the EU-funded.
ADVANTAGES OF GRID COMPUTING:-
1) It can solve more complex problems in a very short span of time.
2) It can easily combine with other organisation.
3) It can make better use of existing hardware.
DISADVANTAGES OF GRID COMPUTING:-
1) It evolves grid software and standards.
2) It starts learning curve.
3) It is very non interactive.
ROLES OF GRID COMPUTING ORGANIZATION:-
Based on their functional role they are:-
1) Organizations developing grid standards and practices for guildline.
2) It acts as a middleware solution.
3) It is a based solution which can solve computing, data and network requirements.
4) It adopt grid concepts for commercial purpose.
GRID ARCHITECTURE:-
– It is the way where grid has been designed.
– It is described in terms of layers which has a specific function.
– The lowest layer is the network above the network layer lies the resource layer.
– The middle layer provides tools that enables various elements.
– The highest is the application layer which includes all kinds of applications.
