Army College of Medical Sciences located in Delhi Cantt. (New Delhi), offers medical course at UG level.

The Lady Hardinge Medical College for women was founded in 1914 to commemorate the visit of Her Majesty Queen Mary in 1911-12. Lady Hardinge the wife of the then viceroy was the first to take initiative for starting a medical college for women, as the lack of separate medical college for women made it possible for Indian women to study medicine. The college imparts various courses in the field of medical science at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Every student in the MBBS program undergoes a period of certified study extending over 4 ½ academic years divided into 9 semesters, followed by one year compulsory rotating internship.

This period of 4 1/2 years is divided into three phases which are as follows:-

Phase-1 (12 months/2 semesters) in this phase, Pre-clinical subjects such as Human Anatomy, Physiology including Bio-Physics, Biochemistry and introduction to Community Medicine including Humanities are taught.

Phase-II (18 months/3 semesters) during this phase, the students are taught Para-clinical and clinical subjects namely Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine including Toxicology and part of Community Medicine.

Phase-III (24 months/4 semesters), Medicine and its allied specialties, Surgery and its allied specialties, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Community medicine are  taught to the medical students during this phase.

After successful completion of the MBBS course, the medical student has to compulsorily work in the hospital attached to the medical college or in any other approved hospital allowed in some medical colleges, for a period of one year. The student gets the degree only after he completes the CRRI. An Intern (also called an Internee or a CRRI) works in all the clinical departments of the hospital on a rotation basis. The Interns are entrusted with clinical responsibilities under the supervision of a Medical teacher or a Resident/ PG student/ senior medical officer. They do not work independently. Interns are not supposed to issue medical certificates, death certificates or medico-legal documents under their own signatures.

Medical Profession has always been considered to be one of the best professions. People treat doctors like God. Being a perfect doctor is what that matters.

Note: As a counselor for career I will not suggest students to go for career in medical field if they are not able to get admission in government medical colleges if there parents profession is not related to medical science or pocket of parents is not very heavy.  Only reason behind it is that , now medical is no more highly paid job and return over investment will not be lucrative in terms of private medical colleges.

Investment of about 50 laks and then after that MS will be must which will cost 1.5 crore . So total investment will touch about 2 crore in period of 7 -8 years . If bank interest will be counted then it will be about 4 crore with depreciation and after that average salary of Rs 2,00,000 with 15% YOY growth and in some cases 30% YOY growth. It will take more than 15 years to churn out total investment
