The octal system ( or oct for short ) is the base-8 positional numeral system. It uses the digits 0 to 7 to represent any number. It is used in digital equipment. For example, in the octal system eight is written as 10 and sixty- four is written as 100.

In the second method, each digit in the octal number is replaced by its binary equivalent. to get the 3-binary equivalent, first we will find the binary equivalent of digit.If is not in 3 bits, then the zeros are placed before the binary equivalent to make it of 3 bits.
