SBI PO Prelims 2017 Exam Analysis of 1 and 2 shift 

One of the most prestigious and important banking exams, the SBI PO Exam, is underway now. In this article, we post the SBI PO Prelims Analysis 2017 for the 1st slot of the exam. This first slot was conducted on the morning of 29th April, 2017.

In this article, we detail the various topics that appeared in different sections of the exam and highlight the overall level of difficulty of the exam. Let’s get started with the section-wise analysis then.

SBI PO Prelims 2017 Analysis: English Language

The section consisted of 30 questions in total. The section carries 30 total marks. The following is the question-wise break up for the section:
Reading Comprehension: 10 questions based on a passage about technology and hacking.
Cloze Test: 10 questions (this was the new pattern cloze test)
Sentence Correction: 10 questions

Overall Level of the Section: This was one area that made a lot of students nervous and anxious but in reality, there was nothing to worry about as the exam featured a section of moderate level of difficulty. If you picked the right questions in this section, you would have performed well in the exam.

SBI PO Prelims 2017 Analysis: Quantitative Aptitude

This 35-question section carried 35 marks and featured questions from the following topics:

Number Series: 5 Questions were based on the topic
Data Interpretation: 2 sets of 5 questions each; one set featured a line graph and the other consisted of tabular data.
Approximation: 5 Questions were based on the topic.
Quadratic Equation: 5 Questions were based on the topic.
Arithmetic and other Miscellaneous Topics: 10 Question were based on topics such as Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Speed &Time, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Averages, Ages, Ratio etc.

Overall Level of the Section: Considering that the overall exam was an easy one, the mathematics section also did not contain any surprise and was of easy level. If you had practiced well and taken some speed tests, you should have performed well in this section.

SBI PO Prelims 2017 Analysis: Reasoning Ability

This section again carried 35 questions with a total of 35 marks. It featured questions from the following topics:

Puzzles and Arrangements: 23 questions. There was one linear puzzle, one puzzle based on age combination and another on floor arrangement.
Inequalities: 5 questions
Direction Sense: 2 questions
Blood Relation: 2 questions
Coding-Decoding: 1 question
Order and Ranking: 2 Questions

Overall Level of the Section: The section was of moderate level of difficulty. This was one area that one could have scored very well and gained an upper hand on one’s competitors. All you had to do is pick the right questions to score well in this area.
