A Hard Life During Childhood

Childhood for Shihab was nothing but a life of struggle coupled with his father who sold bamboo baskets and betel leaves for survival. Sadly, his father died on March 31, 1991, due to an ailment and thus was left completely at the duty of the mother for the family. Fatima had hardly had any education, and hence she found it tough to raise her other five children.

A Life in the Orphanage

Fatima just brought her husband to rest for barely two months and then decided to leave the kids behind at the Kuttiyakkad Muslim Orphanage in Kozhikode. At that age of just 11, separated from the family life, next with him were just an 8-year-old sister Saharabi and a 5-year-old sister Naseeba. Leaving aside the emotional turmoil, Shihab went through his 12th grade and pre-degree education at the orphanage.
