UPSC CSe offers 48 optional subjects for students appearing in mains exam. Out of these 48 optional subjects 25 are from Learning subjects and rest 23 are from Indian languages. A student has 2 papers in optional subjects. Exam is of 250 marks for each paper. That makes value of optional subject in terms of marks as 500.
