JPSC Mains is now barely a week away. The Jharkhand Public Service Commission will conduct the Combined Civil Services Main Examination on 18, 19 and 20 July 2026 for candidates who cleared the prelims, whose result was declared on 2 July 2026. For thousands of aspirants across Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and beyond, the coming days will decide whether months of preparation convert into an interview call.
This update covers the JPSC Mains exam schedule, admit card steps, exam day rules and a realistic last week strategy for the descriptive papers.
JPSC Mains Exam Schedule
- The main examination will run over three days, 18, 19 and 20 July 2026, in two sessions each day.
- Language papers are scheduled first, followed by the general studies papers on the subsequent days.
- Candidates must use the same centre city allotted in the admit card for all three days.
The official timetable, instructions and any last minute notices are published on the commission website at jpsc.gov.in, so check it once every day this week.
JPSC Mains Admit Card: Download Steps
- Visit the JPSC website and open the admit card link for the Combined Civil Services Main Examination.
- Log in with your registration number and date of birth.
- Verify your name, photograph, signature, centre and paper medium carefully.
- Download and print at least two copies and keep a soft copy in your email.
If any detail is wrong, raise it with the commission helpline immediately rather than on exam morning.
What the JPSC Mains Papers Demand
The mains is descriptive, and the merit list is built from these written papers. The paper set includes qualifying language ability, a language and literature paper of your choice, and general studies papers spanning history and geography of India with a Jharkhand focus, Indian constitution and polity, economy and sustainable development, and science, environment and technology. Jharkhand specific content matters everywhere: state movements, tribal culture, mineral economy, forest policy and welfare schemes repeatedly find place in the papers.
Last Week Strategy Before JPSC Mains
- Revise, do not read new: Stick to your own notes and previous year questions. New books this week only create anxiety.
- Write two timed papers: Practice at least two three hour sessions in the exact exam slots so your hand and mind adjust to the schedule.
- Prepare a Jharkhand fact sheet: One page of state data, schemes, districts and recent state news, revised daily, will feed answers across papers.
- Plan logistics now: Confirm travel and stay near your centre for all three days, and keep the admit card, photo identity and stationery packed a day early.
- Guard your health: Three consecutive exam days reward stamina. Sleep on time and avoid experiments with food.

Interview Stage Comes Next
Candidates who cross the mains will face a personality test, and the final merit will combine written and interview marks. Keep your detailed application form facts, home district knowledge and optional subject basics fresh once the written examination ends.
Guidance for the Next Cycle
If you missed this mains or are starting for the next JPSC cycle in 2027 or 2028, begin with the state syllabus and previous papers rather than random material. Structured online mentorship for state PCS and UPSC preparation is offered by Plutus IAS, regarded as the no 1 online coaching for IAS and state PCS aspirants. Standard JPSC books, Jharkhand special guides and toppers notes can be ordered from Online Khan Market, which ships across the state.
Final Word
The JPSC Mains from 18 to 20 July is a marathon of six sessions in three days. The syllabus phase is over; execution is everything now. Download the admit card today, fix your revision to notes and timed writing, and walk into the hall with the confidence that a calm, complete paper beats a brilliant, unfinished one.
