Launching of Power and Coupling in Optical Fiber

SOURCE TO FIBRE POWER COUPLING:-
– Nowadays many source suppliers offer a short optical fiber attached to power coupling sources.– This small optical fiber is known as a fly lead or pigtail. .

– These reduce the power launching problem.

FIBER SPLICING:-

–It is a permanent bond between two fibers.

– These bond is made by using fusion splicing.

– Temporary splices is necessary when one is making or troubleshooting.

OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTORS:-

– They are made by combinations of two or three letters.
– There are different types of optical fiber connectors like:-

ST connector- They are used in applications like data communication and telecommunication.

SC connector

-It stands for subscriber connector or square connector.It is widely used in LAN,WAN and telecommunication networks.
-it is also used in simplex or duplex configurations.

FC connector-

–It stands for Fiber channel and is used in fiber channel applications like terminating the jumper.
– It is works on thread coupling mechanism.

LC connector

-It is used for high-density fiber optic connectivity.

-It aligns the fibre core to achieve low insertion loss.

– It is available in both simplex and duplex mode..
