Overview of the AP High Court Editor Recruitment 2026
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned the establishment of the Digital Andhra Pradesh Law Reports (Digi-APLR) and a Translation Wing within the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. To staff this crucial initiative, the High Court has issued Notification No. 01/2026, inviting applications for a single post of Editor. This recruitment drive aims to secure a highly qualified individual to oversee the preparation and vetting of head-notes, as well as the translation and vetting of judgments from both the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Andhra Pradesh into the vernacular language. The selected candidate will also be responsible for any other duties entrusted by the competent authority.
Eligibility Criteria for the Editor Post
Candidates aspiring for the Editor position must meet stringent eligibility requirements as outlined in the official notification. The primary criterion is that the applicant must be a retired District Judge of the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service. Beyond this, proficiency and command over the Telugu language, or a Graduation/Post Graduation in Telugu, will be preferred. Applicants are also required to possess expertise in both English and Telugu languages, coupled with sound knowledge and nuances of research methodology. Age is another critical factor; the retired Judicial Officer applying for the post shall not exceed sixty-five (65) years as on the date of notification. Furthermore, any retired District Judge who has been awarded a major punishment for misconduct during their judicial service, or against whom a departmental enquiry is pending, will not be eligible for this appointment.
Selection Process: Viva Voce
The method of recruitment for the Editor post is strictly through a Viva Voce. After inviting applications, eligible and suitable candidates will undergo a viva voce examination. The selection will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s capabilities across several key domains. These include their knowledge of law and intellectual depth, clear and logical exposition, power of assimilation and editorial skills, and a demonstrated passion for Telugu and English literature. Research skills, attitude, ethics, and character will also be assessed. Additionally, any contribution of articles or write-ups to Law Journals, Journals of Social Studies, or Literature will be considered during the evaluation.
Assignment Period and Remuneration Details
The appointment to the Editor post will initially be for a period of two (2) years or until the appointee attains the age of sixty-five (65) years, whichever occurs earlier. The competent authority, at its sole discretion, may extend this tenure by a further period of one (1) year or two (2) years, contingent upon the appointee’s satisfactory performance and suitability. It is important to note that the competent authority reserves the absolute right to terminate the appointment forthwith, without assigning any reason or issuing prior notice, if the appointee’s performance, conduct, or suitability is found to be unsatisfactory. Regarding remuneration, the monthly payment will be calculated as the last drawn pay (Basic + DA) minus pension, in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.48 FINANCE (HR.V) DEPARTMENT, dated: 23.04.2018. Appointees must also ensure they do not have any financial or other interests that could prejudicially affect the discharge of their duties.
