This densely populated state is the sixth largest contributor to the net domestic product of the country. West Bengal is one of those states to have the greatest number of higher education colleges and provides quality education to the students.

Bachelor of education abbreviated as B.Ed is a very important and a traditional degree for the students aspiring to become a teacher in schools. This degree is an undergraduate degree of education and in India it is mandatory for teachers to have this degree in order to pursue teaching.

Course details: Most of the college provides a one year secondary teacher education programe. But few colleges have their own specifications in terms of duration of the course.

Eligibility criteria:  To get into this course the minimum qualification should be a B.Sc., B.A or B.Com. With minimum 50 percent in aggregate. Though the eligibility criterion for B.Ed remains same but the admission criteria may vary for every college.

Admission Criteria: Separate application is issued for each college. The candidates interested to join a particular college can download the application from the official website of that particular college and send it to the respective colleges according to their due dates. They will be selected on the basis of personal interview performance and written test.

Fees structure: The fees structure for the bed colleges in west bengal is fixed by the university. The fees for government aided as well as privately owned institutions are same and are revised by the state government.
