Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Is an examination conducted by NTA for admissions in engineering colleges in India. every year lakhs of students appear in JEE exams to get admission in India’s top engineering colleges. JEE exams is conducted in two phase i,e, JEE mains and advance.
JEE Mains Examination
JEE mains examination would be conducted by NTA in the month of April for the year 2020. And the mode of examination would be online. After passing JEE Mains examination candidates May either take admission in NITs/IIITs/CFTIs or an entry ticket to the next phase i.e. Advanced examination.
JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria
Nationality & Citizenship – Indian Citizen , NRIs, PIOs, OCIs & Foreign national candidates can also apply.
Age Limit – There is no age limit to appear in the JEE Main Examination for the candidates belonging to General/OBC/ST/SC/PWD Categories.
Education Qualification –
12th Class/Equivalent Exam Passed Out Candidates in 2018/2019.
12th Class/Equivalent Exam Appearing Candidates in 2020.
Diploma Holders who have already passed or are in their final year of pursuing Degree.
Note-The students who had appeared in 12th Class/Equivalent Test in 2017 or before are not eligible.
No. of Attempts – candidate can avail only 6 chances (expected) to give the JEE Mains Exam and that too in 3 consecutive years.
JEE Mains Marks Eligibility –
Those who have passed their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent in 2018 or 2019 are eligible for the exam.
But for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs, only those candidates who have scored more than 75% or be in Top 20 Percentile in respective Board are eligible for the admission. In case of ST/SC/PWD Candidates, the percentage criteria will be 65%.
JEE Advance
JEE Advanced is the next step of JEE Mains. Only, the candidates who have qualified the JEE Mains examination are eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced Exam.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced
JEE Advanced Qualification Marks [Required Mains Score to qualify for Advance]. Only the Top 2,50,000 qualified (including all categories) candidates of Mains Exam will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced 2020 Exam.
For GEN-EWS Category – 4%
For OBC Category – 27%
For SC Category – 15%
For ST Category – 7.5%
For General Category – 46.5% (OPEN for all others)
For PWD – 5% of each of these 4 Categories
Age Criteria for JEE Advanced Eligibility
Thee candidates belonging to General/OBC Categories, must not age more than 24 Years.
And, in case of ST/SC/PWD candidates, the upper age limit is mentioned as 29 Years which means that they must have born on or after 1st October 1990.
Number of Attempts for JEE Advanced – Maximum 2 Attempts and that too in the consecutive years only.
