The Staff Selection commission conducted Combined Graduate level Tier-I successfully in the month of August and September. This time SSC conducted the exam in online mode and also the pattern of exam has changed to New Pattern. The SSC has released the Answer key recently and the candidates can calculate their respective marks.

SSC CGL Tier-II is expected to be conducted in the month of November. The Serious candidates have already started preparing for Tier-II Examination. Here are some indispensable strategies  to crack English Section in a stipulated time of 30 days. Though English is quite exceptional subject but it is very much scoring if we follow some key strategies. Firstly, lets go through the exam pattern of english for Tier-II Examination-

Smart Strategy for Grammar

Well Grammar is most important part to learn any language. It is directly or indirectly asked in each and every topic of this section. It mainly focussed in topics like Error Detection, Fill in the Blanks and Cloze test.

Error Detection-

In this the sentence is divided into 4 or 5 parts. Candidate has detect the part with error. Also if there is no error then candidate has to mark “no error”.

Keep in mind it is Error detection not Error correction, So Don’t waste unnecessary time in thinking the reason of error.

Secondly, do not give a pause at slashes, just read the sentence continuously.

Fill in the Blanks-

Well this section demands good comprehension skills. In this section candidates will be given a sentence with a blank which should be filled by the most appropriate word from the given options.

Reported Speech and Direct and  Indirect narration.

This section refers to Active and Passive Voice. In this section candidates have to choose the from the options the most suitable passive voice conversion of the given active voice conversion. Furthermore, Candidates are also asked the correct Active voice of a given Passive Voice.

Similarly, Direct and Indirect narration will be asked in the exam in the same fashion. Candidates are advised to focus more on these topics as they are important from exam point of view and Weightage Wise also.

Grammar is not a one day game as already said “Rome was not build in day” . So keep focus on key points only and don’t go in depth.

Smart Strategy for vocabulary

Again Vocabulary is another pillar for any language and same with English. It not only helps in improving communication skills but readily an important topic from Exam Point of View.

It comprises the topics like Synonyms, Antonyms and Cloze test.

Synonyms and Antonyms

Synonyms and Antonyms refers to words with similar meaning and opposite meaning. Candidates are advised to learn only synonyms and do not separately learn  Antonyms.

Adopt the Root Approach to learn Vocabulary. Root refers to a base word from which the different words are Derived . It Includes Prefixes and suffixes.

Cloze test

In Cloze test a paragraph is given with certain blanks to be filled by candidates from the given set of options. This section requires grammar along with vocabulary and comprehension skills. This is the most scoring section and candidates are advised to grab this section to improve their score.

 

Smart Strategy for Reading Comprehension

“Reading Comprehension” tests you in comprehension skill. It is an inevitable part of  every competitive exam. It is the also the section with highest weightage in both Prelims and Mains Examinations of SSC CGL.

 To improve comprehension one should have a habit of Daily Reading. For this newspaper reading is best option. Also students may read Novels, Standard books, Blogs, Articles etc. 

Try to practice at least one passage Daily and in rare case in every two days. This will also let u know the type of questions asked in exam . The Comprehension skills are inevitable to crack this section. Hence, candidates should focus more here also.!!
