What is NATA ?

NATA stands for “National Aptitude Test in Architecture” – it’s an undergraduate entrance exam that measures your aptitude for studying architecture. The National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) in Pune conducts this test. It’s designed for admission to the first year of the 5-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree program at various COA-approved architectural institutions across India. The exam tests both creative abilities and technical skills – including drawing, observation, aesthetic sensitivity, critical thinking, and architectural awareness, along with mathematics and general knowledge. Students who’ve passed or are appearing in Class 12 with Mathematics as a mandatory subject are eligible to apply. The exam is conducted multiple times a year, giving candidates several attempts to score well. Your NATA score is valid for admissions across participating architecture colleges nationwide.

In this Examination test student’s  aptitude for a specific field of study, i.e. Architecture, in areas like drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking, qualities that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to Architecture.

What kind of Pattern in NATA Examination have ?

NATA examination test have two parts,

The first part have A paper based drawing test and

The second part is computer based online aesthetic sensitivity test.

  • Candidates are given 3 question in the Drawing test with time duration of 2 hours.

What is aesthetic sensitivity ?

Aesthetic sensitivity is a pattern of reactions or impressions that humans generate to make judgments of sentiment and taste.

  • The Aesthetic Sensitivity test contains 40 Multiple Choice Objective type questions in total and time duration for Aesthetic Sensitivity test is 1 hour.
  • The overall test including both papers is of 200 marks and time duration is 3 hours. There is no negative marking in this examination

Who is Eligible for This Exam ?

10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Board/University with Mathematics as a subject of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks.
OR
10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/ State Governments with 50% aggregate marks.
OR
International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.
