NEET UG 2026 results are out, with Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana jointly topping the country at 715 out of 720. With MCC counselling registration expected to open on 21 July, the next few days are the most time sensitive part of the entire admission cycle, so it helps to know exactly where you stand and what happens next.

Topper List and Result Highlights

Punjab and Haryana dominated the top ranks this year, while Rajasthan had the highest overall representation in the Top 138 candidates, followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Nineteen candidates crossed the 700 mark, and 138 candidates scored 690 or above. Out of nearly 20 lakh candidates who appeared, about 11.21 lakh have qualified, and more than fifty eight percent of all qualified candidates this year are female.

Category Wise Qualifying Cutoff

• General category: 50th percentile, which works out to 213 marks out of 720 this year.
• General-PwD: 45th percentile.
• SC, ST and OBC-NCL: 40th percentile, with the cutoff range falling between roughly 212 and 177 marks.

Remember that qualifying the cutoff only makes you eligible for counselling. Your actual seat depends on your rank relative to the number of seats in your target category and state quota, so check your percentile position rather than only your raw score.

MCC Counselling Registration: What to Expect on July 21

The Medical Counselling Committee is expected to open Round 1 registration for All India Quota seats around 21 July, though the official notification from MCC is still awaited. Once it opens, candidates can register, pay the counselling fee, and begin choice filling, with the window typically remaining open for about a week before locking.

What to Do Right Now

• Keep your NEET roll number, scorecard and category certificates ready before registration opens, since document upload happens at the registration stage itself.
• Start shortlisting colleges by realistic rank range rather than aspiration alone. A rough list saves critical time once the choice filling window opens.
• If you are also eligible for state quota counselling, check your state’s separate counselling authority and timeline, since state rounds often run on a different schedule from MCC’s All India Quota round.
• Do not wait for the last day to register. Server load is consistently high in the first and last 24 hours of every MCC window.
