West Bengal is the fourth most populous state of India and seventh most populous in the world. This densely populated state is the sixth largest contributor to the net domestic product of the country. West Bengal is one of those states to have the greatest number of higher education colleges and provides quality education to the students.
Polytechnic degree also known as diploma in engineering has always been in demand as there are numerous job opportunities for the students having this degree. But the degree should be from a well recognized institution. West Bengal has a number of polytechnic colleges which are able to impart quality education to the students. ADMISSION CRITERIA: The criteria for admission in the polytechnic colleges are the same:
- The candidate must secure 45% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination.
- The candidate must qualify the state entrance test – JEXPO for polytechnic.
- The seats are allotted on the basis of counselling ranks. These ranks are being distributed on the basis of marks scored in the entrance test.
- Although in self financing institution, admission is also through management quota. The rules and regulations of management quota admission are under the supervision of Supreme Court.
FEES STRUCTURE: The fees structure of all government as well as self financing institution is under the supervision of department of technical education and training. All the government aided institutions as well as privately owned institutions have the fees as decided by the state government.
- Government aided polytechnic colleges:
Admission Fee: INR 200 (during first admission)
Tuition Fee: INR 50 (Per Month)
Caution Deposit: INR 35
Session Charge: INR 50
Hostel Rent: INR 50(per month)
Hostel Electric charge: INR 50 (per month)
2. Private polytechnic colleges:
- For students admitted through JEXPO: INR 1500 ( per month)
- For students admitted under management quota :INR 2500 ( per month)
Note: Hostel charges of private colleges are decided by the college administration and it starts from INR 2500 (per month) but varies from college to college.

Can jexpo rank 3306 general admit in mechanical engineering in gov colleges?
Having coaching and students, Coming sesion I have seven students who are appearing the Jexpo 2017 and they are willing to admit the polytechnical college in civil / Surveyor / Electrical /one automobile engineering course. Please furnish the details and to whom I should contact for the same purpose.
In every certificate i used my father name as guardian but now in jexpo2017 i shall want to use my mother name as guardian. can i shall do it?
