IMD  was established in 1875 under Government of India

IMD is conducting exam for the post of scientific assistant  having the following pattern and the whole exam is online consisting of two parts

Part I – General Intelligence ( further 4 sections)
Part II – Subject Specific (1 Section)

Negative marking is of 0.25 marks of each wrong answer given by the candidate

After these papers there will be an interview of  100 marks which is combined with paper 1 and paper2  marks which decide your selection for this post

This (2011) was the last time SSC took exam for IMD Scientific Assistant. Paper 2 was of 200 marks and in 2017  it is of 100 Marks.

How to prepare for Scientific Assistants exam in Indian Meteorological Department

  • English Section : In english section you must learn the basics like Subject verb agreement , Nouns , Pronouns ,  Modals all these are important for exam point of view  and also start improving your vocabulary day by day with the help of newspaper reading because it can do 2 in 1 job your vocabulary become strong at the same time your gs also become strong
  • Comprehension – The trick of comprehension is that try to understand the gist of passage so that you can suddenly and easily answer the questions for this you can read passage two times
  • Reasoning –  Reasoning is very scoring subject but require speed to analyze for this you do not waste your time in analyzing deeply just relax your mind and answer the questions
  • General Knowledge – For general knowledge section you can use ncert books and lucent one liner books and also you can read the Hindu daily for improving current affairs knowledge
