THE PUNJAB PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (PPSC ) resurged in February 1948. Syllabus of Punjab PSC
PPSC Preliminary Exam Syllabus
The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers:
General Studies
Topics include:
Everyday Science: Basic concepts in physics, chemistry, biology, and health.
Environmental Studies: Climate change, biodiversity, and pollution.
Political Theory: Concepts of freedom, equality, and international organizations.
Indian Polity: Constitution, governance, and electoral reforms.
History of India: Important events and figures.
Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)

Each paper is of 200 marks, with the General Studies paper comprising 100 questions and the CSAT containing 80 questions. There is no negative marking in the Preliminary exam.
PPSC Mains Exam Syllabus
The Mains Examination includes seven papers, each assessing different skills and knowledge areas:
Punjabi (Compulsory): Comprehension, précis writing, letter writing, essay writing, and grammar.
English (Compulsory): Similar to the Punjabi paper, focusing on comprehension, précis, letter and essay writing, and grammar.
Essay: Candidates write three essays on specified topics, demonstrating clarity and organization.
General Studies Paper I
Covers History, Geography, and Society.
General Studies Paper II
Focuses on Indian Constitution, Polity, Governance, and International Relations.
General Studies Paper III
Encompasses Economy, Statistics, and Security Issues.
General Studies Paper IV
Includes Science & Technology, Environment, and Problem-solving.
Each of the General Studies papers is worth 250 marks, while the Punjabi and English papers carry 100 marks each, and the essay paper is worth 150 marks. The total marks for the Mains examination amount to 1500.
Salary for Punjab PSC
The salary structure for positions under the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in 2024 is as follows:
Basic Salary
The foundational salary for Punjab Civil Services positions starts at INR 15,600 and can go up to INR 39,100, depending on the specific role and level of responsibility.
