Simon Fraser University (SFU) is a public research university which is located in British Columbia, Canada it is having its main campus on the Burnaby Mountain and the satellite campuses in Downtown Vancouver and Surrey. It mainly focuses on the inter – disciplinary programs, which allow the students a flexible education with an emphasis on the breadth of study, writing and quantitative skills.

SFU has earned the reputation as “The Instant University” as it grew from a vision for a school into a campus with 2,500 students in only 30 months time. SFU has a large number of international students and is always looking to attract more with incentives like the International Mobility award which can provide students with up to $2500 to put towards their education at Simon Fraser University. SFU also has a partnership with Zhejiang University in China, which enables students to complete a 5 year computing science program and graduate with a degree from both schools.

Many students from all over the globe apply here for seeking to take the admission in this university but unfortunately many of them are unable afford the fees due to different problems like financial need, etc. So the university has started the provision of scholarship for the international students who are meritorious, talented and due to financial need or some other problem can’t afford to take admission. The government and many private organizations also provide scholarships to the needy students.

Given below are the details of some of the scholarships which are available at / for this university for the international students for taking admission in the Masters’ degree. Although the list contains mainly those scholarships in which the students from India are eligible to apply.

The scholarship for the Indian students available here are:

1.       International Mobility Award

Eligibility: Any international student with minimum 2.00 CGPA are eligible. The candidate needs to apply and be accepted for a SFU Formal Exchange Program or Field School. The candidate must not hold IMA as well as BIMA together in a single SFU academic exchange or field school term.
Scholarship Amount: Up to $ 1,000
How to Apply:  The application form will be available to be downloaded from the website. Field school participants will be sent the application form directly via email.
The candidate needs to complete the form and submit a hard copy to the International Services for Students by the appropriate deadline. If the candidate is unable to submit the application in hard copy, they need to contact goexchange@sfu.ca in advance of the deadline to make alternative arrangements.

2.       Computing Science Graduate Fellowship

Eligibility: The candidate must be registered in a full time regular Masters’ course in this university, must have exceptional marks in their highest qualification.
Scholarship Amount: Up to $ 6,000 per year in total
