The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the results of the 2021 Civil Services Examination (CSE), with Punjab’s Gamini Singla securing an impressive third rank. In her second attempt at the exam, Gamini not only passed but also emerged as one of the top candidates, attributing her success primarily to self-study and her father’s support.
Women Empowerment Through Hard Work
Expressing her excitement about her achievement, Gamini emphasized that women are capable of accomplishing anything through hard work and dedication. The 2021 CSE results highlighted the remarkable performances of women, with Shruti Sharma and Ankita Agarwal taking the first and second ranks, respectively.
A Dream Come True
Gamini shared her feelings about passing the Civil Services Examination, stating, “I am very happy. It feels like a dream come true.” She has chosen to pursue a career in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and expressed her desire to contribute to the nation’s development and the welfare of its people.
Study Strategy and Support
Discussing her study strategy, Gamini mentioned that she dedicated 9-10 hours a day to her preparation. She attended coaching in Patiala under Vinod Sir but relied heavily on self-study for her exam readiness. She credited her father for playing a crucial role in her preparation. Both of Gamini’s parents work as medical officers in the Himachal Pradesh government.
Breaking Barriers
When asked about the significance of the top three female ranks in the examination, Gamini remarked that it reflects how women can achieve their goals through hard work and commitment. A B.Tech graduate in Computer Science, Gamini chose Sociology as her optional subject for the Civil Services Examination.
UPSC Results Overview
The final results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 revealed that a total of 685 candidates—508 men and 177 women—qualified for the exam. The commission has also recommended their names for appointments in various central services.
