First We know What is AFCAT Exam ?
AFCAT full form is Air Force Common Admission Test, which is conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to recruit officers in different branches. The AFCAT exam is held twice every year, usually in the months of February and August. The application forms are released in December and June respectively, giving candidates sufficient time to apply and prepare. Through AFCAT, eligible candidates get an opportunity to join the Indian Air Force in Flying, Ground Duty (Technical), and Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches. Understanding what the AFCAT exam is, along with its eligibility criteria, exam pattern, and selection process, is essential for aspirants who want to build a career in the Indian Air Force.
AFCAT is officer recruitment gateway in 3 branches of Air Force –
- Flying Branch (Short Service Commission only),
- Technical branch (Permanent & Short Service Commission)
- Ground Duty Branch (Permanent & Short Service Commission).

AFCAT Exam Pattern ?
- The exam will be conducted over a period of 2 hours.
- Questions are to be asked from Verbal Ability, General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Aptitude Test.
- The exam duration for the EKT will be 45 minutes.

AFCAT Exam Eligibility ?
For flying Flying Branch
- 60% marks in graduation in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or B.E./B. Tech. or
- 60% marks in Section A & B examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).
Age– Candidate should not be born earlier than 2nd January, 1995 and not later than 1stJanuary, 1999

For Ground Duty (Technical)
