Eligibility Criteria for Assam PSC

Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 38 years old as of January 1, 2024.

OBC/MOBC: 3 years
SC/ST (P)/ST (H): 5 years
PwD: 10 years

Exam Pattern of Assam PSC

The APSC CCE consists of two main stages: The Preliminary Examination and the Main Examination.

Preliminary Examination
Format: Objective type questions
Papers: Two papers (General Studies I and II)
Total Marks: 400 (200 marks each)
Duration: 2 hours for each paper
Qualifying Marks: Minimum of 33% required to qualify.

Main Examination
Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination will proceed to the Main Examination, which includes:
Papers: Six papers, including an essay and five General Studies papers
Total Marks: 1500 (250 marks for each paper)
Duration: 3 hours for each paper

Interview: Candidates who pass the written exam will also face an interview, contributing an additional 275 marks to the total score.

Preliminary Examination Syllabus

The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers, each carrying 200 marks.

  • Paper I: General Studies I

Current Affairs: National and international importance, awards, sports, discoveries.
Indian History: Ancient, medieval, and modern history of India.
Indian National Movement: Key events and figures.
General Science: Basic concepts in physics, chemistry, and biology.
Geography: Physical, social, and economic geography of India and the world.
Polity: Indian polity and governance, constitution, political system.
Economic and Social Development: Sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics.

  • Paper II: General Studies II

Reasoning: Logical reasoning, analytical ability, and problem-solving.

Main Examination Syllabus

The Main Examination consists of six papers, each carrying 250 marks, plus an essay paper.

  • Paper I: Essay- Candidates will write an essay on a given topic in the medium of their choice.
  • Papers II to VI: General Studies

I: Indian Heritage and Culture, History, and Geography of the World and Society.
II: Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice, and International Relations.
III: Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security, and Disaster Management.
IV: Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude; Human Values, and Public/Civil Service Values.
V: General Studies on Assam, covering history, culture, geography, economy, and ecology.

Qualifying Papers

Paper A: A language paper (Assamese, Bengali, or Bodo) focusing on comprehension, essay writing, and translation.
Paper B: English language paper assessing comprehension and essay writing skills.

Salary Structure

The salary for positions recruited through the APSC CCE varies depending on the specific role but typically ranges from ₹30,000 to ₹1,10,000 per month. This range reflects the different levels of responsibility and seniority associated with the various positions available through the examination.
