The police is a concerned body that we know as the protector of law and one who is responsible or the security of a particular place. Everywhere for a particular region a police group is placed with the name of that local area.
The Assam police is denoted as the local civil police body prevailing within the state of Assam . The Home Affairs department of the state controls this civil body .Whereas Guwahati holds the headquarters office of Assam Police.
ABOUT ASSAM POLICE STRUCTURE
Assam police is under the leadership of a DIG(Deputy Inspector General) who handles different police districts . with the police districts lead by SP(superintendent police).
The police district is further classified into sub divisions under DSP(deputy superintendent of police).
This police division is made up of various police circles with a circle inspector asd its head.
ELIGIBILITY FOR EXAMS
The minimum age limit to apply is18yrs old and maximum is 25 years.
Beside this the educational qualification required is atleast 12th pass from a recognised board
THE SALARY PAID TO ASSAM POLICE
According to the recruitment board the pay scale for Assam Police ranges from rs5200 to rs 20200 Along with allowances.
EXAM PATTERN
The exam paper for Assam Police is categorised in three parts-
- Reasoning aptitude
- Topics related to culture and history of Assam state.
- The General Knowledge section or Current Affairs

EXAM SYLLABUS FOR ASSAM POLICE
For the exam syllabus there are multiple choice questions of 50 marks, extra activity and skills 10 marks.
Total PET marks 40.

ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS– Within this subject you need to study specially on these topics- Interest,percentages, ratio,discount,average, mensuration, profit & loss, use of tables,use of graphs, time & distance, proportion,number systems, decimals & fractions, whole numbers.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE-With this subject you need to know the current happenings along with these topics: national & international issues, financial news,economic news, culture of Assam,inventions & discoveries in science, capitals with countries,.
REASONING-For this subject relevant topics to be covered-venn diagrams,number series, techniques for solving problems, statement type questions, conclusion type , arithmetic reasoning, non verbal series,coding & decoding.
ENGLISH– For English the exam will cover the usual topics of English grammar : spellings, fill in the blanks, antonyms,synonyms,adjectives,verb, clauses.
There are two types of test for the candidates applying for Assam Police-
PET- This means Physical Efficiency Test
PST- This means Physical Standard Test.
Both these exams are conducted after the written exams are done. The qualifying students of written exams are called over for these two tests. Both these tests is taken for both male and female.
Finally comes the Personality test or Interview round which takes place after qualifying written exams.
