Great Lakes Institute of Management ranks as a very popular college in Chennai, but recent reviews reveal a different side. Much remains unclear about the true quality of infrastructure, food options, and those high fees. This college stays the dream choice for many seeking entry into a reputed MBA program, yet some shared insights paint another picture beyond the hype.

Great Lakes Institute of management Reviews apart from the glitz and glory of the campus prestige there are certain things that are not so great and needs attention. Here are some of such issues discussed.

SCHOLARSHIP AND FEES STRUCTURE

The course fee at Great Lakes Institute of Management runs about INR 18.5 lakh per year, making it quite high—so loans become a must for most students. Some banks partner with the institute to ease this process. No scholarship options exist, leaving middle-class families with a tough financial burden to join and finish any program here.

PLACEMENTS & INTERNSHIPS

The class is 90% full of IT GUYS, from, Wipro, TCS, Infosys etc. Most of the companies that visit the campus are IT companies.2. 95% companies will offer a salary of 7–9 lakh per annum including variable components. Most of the companies that come are for IT Roles and the rest companies that come are from nook and corners of Chennai. Another disadvantage is that  95% companies will offer location of Chennai as companies hardly get people for Chennai location and hence they offer only Chennai location.

FACULTY AND HOSTEL FACILITY

Majority of the professor are not well qualified leaving a few. The staffs are like mind-blowing buggers from some village of Chennai. Hostel accommodation to food is really pathetic compared to what the students pay.

DELUSION ABOUT PAY PACKAGES

Many people have mentioned average salary of 12 lakhs which is totally inflated. Amazon which they say offers 30+ lakhs actually offers 9 lakhs CTC. What college does are they even add the bonuses and gratuity which you get in subsequent 5 years and then say 30 lakhs which are obviously a talk in the air.

MESS FOOD

The food of the mess would be rated better than many other institutes, but then it is not so great as well particularly most of the days’ dinners are bad. There is a lot of scope for improvement in this area.

Distance from the city

Approximately 60 km from the city, it becomes an issue when you would like to venture into the city. The journey takes the maximum of one’s time and by the point one is back at the campus, the students are extremely exhausted. But then, you can’t do much with it. However, Kalpakkam and Mahabalipuram can satisfy your need for good food to some extent.

However, this college has satisfactory past performance and many students have completed their management courses from this college.  The total fee for the course is a pain point and it may increase for prospective students but this is among the top colleges in India.
