WHAT ARE THE MUST READ NCERT BOOKS FOR IAS PREPARATION? Are you preparing for IAS exam? Are you looking for the best books to get success in this exam? NCERT books can be considered as a good source for the preparation of IAS exams. Even though many popularly known coaching’s have suggested NCERT books for the preparations of IAS exam. To fresh aspirants, NCERT books are recommended for starting their preparation. But it is not needed to refer all the NCERT books for the preparation of IAS exams as some of the textbooks are not required. Here we are suggesting you some of the NCERT textbooks that you can read for your preparation of IAS exams.

  • Indian polity NCERT textbooks: it is not highly required to read any NCERT textbook for the study of Indian polity because our constitution by Subhash Kashyap is actually a very good source of Indian polity. It is easily understandable. But if you still want to refer to some NCERT book for the study of Indian polity then you should refer to the NCERT textbooks on political science of classes 11th and 12th.
  • Indian history NCERT textbooks: some NCERT books that you should read for the study of Indian history are “ancient India” of class 11th authored by RS Sharma, “medieval India” of class 9th authored by Satish Chandra and “modern India” Bipin Chandra.
  • Geography NCERT textbooks: read all the four NCERT books of class 11th and 12th of geography.
  • Indian economy NCERT textbooks: “Indian economy development” of class11th and “introductory microeconomics & introductory macroeconomics” are NCERT textbooks that are recommended.
