“It’s interesting to note that while a majority of engineering coaching centers primarily focus on preparing students specifically for the IIT JEE, many overlook other significant engineering entrance exams like UPTU, CET, and the others we mentioned. Annually, India produces a massive number of engineers—around 700,000 from various disciplines. However, out of this huge pool, the IITs collectively offer only about 12,000 seats across all their streams.

Considering these numbers, it’s understandable why many coaching centers have broadened their focus to include these other important state and national-level exams. Yet, they often face a perception challenge; if their primary goal isn’t solely IIT preparation, they might be labeled as ‘sub-standard’ engineering coaching, even though they cater to a much larger student base. The reality is, many students are quite aware of their own strengths and capabilities and wisely choose not to aim for the highly competitive IIT JEE, opting instead for other excellent engineering pathways. These coaching centers serve a vital role for such students.”

1. Quality of teacher: Although it sounds little vague but , I will not recommend all IITans coaching for students whose target is colleges apart from IIT. Many students engineering coaching whose target are not IIT JEE feel little alienated in coaching ceneters where focus is on IIT JEE because only tough questions are discussed their where as most of engineering colleges are focused on basics of Physics , Chem and Maths of class 11th and 12th.

2. Do not opt for school affiliated coaching: Coachings are needed to take second thought or view on subject , so we would not advice to read same subject from same teacher twice.
