Many students from all over the world look for admission in the universities of Japan, however unfortunately several are unable to do so due to different issues just like the monetary need, etc. Therefore the Japanese government and many non-public foundations have started the provision of providing the scholarship to the international students who are extra – ordinarily meritorious, proficient and owing to their monetary need or a number of issues, they can’t afford to take the admission.

Although the list contains primarily only those scholarships in which Indian students are eligible to apply.

The scholarships that are available for pursuing Masters in Japan are:

1.       Japan – IMF Scholarships for Asians

Funded by the Government of Japan and administered by International Monetary Fund, this organization was established in 1993. This foundation aims to contribute to the institutional capacity building.
Eligibility: Any international candidates who are holding their bachelors’ or equivalent degree with at least 16 years of formal education are eligible for this scholarship for pursuing their Masters in Japan. The candidate must have also some professional experience along with an activity contributing to the development of their home country.
Scholarship Amount: The amount that would be covering the tuition fees, a monthly stipend, one round – trip economy – class air ticket, visa application cost, testing fees, book shipping costs, etc.
How to Apply: The candidate needs to apply online. The applications will be available at http://www.imf.org/external/oap/schol.html . 2.       UNU – INWEH Scholarships in Integrated Drylands Management for Developing Countries

This scholarship program is designed to enhance the capacity of developing countries to manage their drylands resources. It provides the young professionals and scientists an international perspective on resource management approaches.
Eligibility: The international candidates who dwell from the developing countries and are on the top of the list on competitive basis are eligible for this scholarship for pursuing their Masters in Japan.
Scholarship Amount: The amount that would be covering the tuition fees, a monthly stipend, one round – trip economy – class air ticket, housing, meals, local transportation, etc.
How to Apply: The candidates need to apply online through the website before the deadline.

International Scholarship for Indian Students for Masters in Japan3.       Japanese Government Scholarships for International Students

This scholarship is provided by the Japanese Government. It is administered by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
Eligibility: Any international candidates, whose country has diplomatic relationship with Japan, have at least 22 years age, have attended 16 years of formal education, etc. are eligible for this scholarship for pursuing their Masters in Japan.
Scholarship Amount: 144,000 yen
How to Apply: The application procedure differs according to the country in which the Japanese embassy is located. So the candidate needs to consult the Japanese embassy or consulate general in their home country for details. But it must be done before the deadline.

4.       ADB – Japan Scholarship Program for Developing Countries in Asia

This scholarship program is financed by the Government of Japan. It aims to provide an opportunity to undertake the postgraduate studies by the well qualified citizen of the ADB’s developing countries.
Eligibility: Any candidates belonging to the ADB borrowing member country, have gained admission in approved institute for Masters’, have at least two years of professional experience, holding their bachelors’ or equivalent degree, etc. are eligible for this scholarship for pursuing their Masters in Japan.
Scholarship Amount: The amount that would be covering the full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence and housing allowance, books allowance, medical insurance, travel expenses, etc.
How to Apply: The candidates need to request for the information from the academic institution they have chosen. They should mention to their institute that they want to be considered for the ADB – JSP scholarship. The completed application form along with the required documents, ADB – JSP information sheet, etc. should be submitted to the institute. The candidates will be chosen and will be ranked accordingly by the institute and would be granted by the scholarship.

5.       Rotary International Peace Fellowships

This foundation provides scholarship for promoting the national and international cooperation and peace throughout their lives, in their career and through service activities.
Eligibility: Any international candidates who are having a strong commitment to the international understanding and peace i.e., demonstrated through professional and academic achievements, holding their bachelors’ degree with excellent marks in it, minimum three years of professional experience, proficiency in English, strong leadership skills, etc. are eligible for this scholarship for pursuing their Masters in Japan.
Scholarship Amount: The amount that would be covering the full tuition fees, housing allowance, internship / field study expenses, travel expenses, etc.
How to Apply: The candidates need to contact their own country’s local Rotary club for applying for this scholarship. All the application details will be given by them. But all the procedure should be completed before the deadline.
