The Maharashtra Public Service Commission will conduct the Combined Group C Preliminary Examination on July 12. With just days to go, the hall ticket window is the most important thing on every candidate’s screen. The commission releases admit cards about a week before the exam, so candidates should log in to their account on the official MPSC portal and download the hall ticket as soon as it appears.
Which posts does this exam cover
The Combined Group C examination is a single gateway for several posts in the Maharashtra government, including Industry Inspector, Tax Assistant, Technical Assistant and Clerk Typist. A common preliminary exam shortlists candidates, and the Mains stage later in the year decides the final post wise selection. As per the annual calendar, the Group C Mains is scheduled for December 13.
Admit card download steps
- Visit mpsc.gov.in and open the online application login
- Sign in with your registered mobile number or user ID and password
- Open the admit card tab, select Combined Group C Preliminary Examination
- Download the PDF and take two printouts
Check your name, photograph, exam centre and timing immediately. If anything looks wrong, raise it with the commission through the helpline listed on the portal without waiting.
Exam pattern and negative marking
The preliminary paper is objective and tests Marathi, English, general knowledge and aptitude within a tight time limit, and it carries negative marking for wrong answers. That combination punishes blind guessing. Attempt in two rounds. Secure the questions you know first, then return to the borderline ones with calculated risk.
Last 10 days revision plan
- Days 1 to 4: One full syllabus revision from your short notes. No new books now.
- Days 5 to 7: One full length mock every day at the exact exam time slot. Analyse every wrong answer the same evening.
- Days 8 and 9: Current affairs of the last six months, Maharashtra specific schemes, awards and appointments.
- Day 10: Light revision, documents check and early sleep.
Preparing alongside other exams
Most Group C aspirants also write banking and staff selection exams because the aptitude and reasoning syllabus overlaps heavily. If that is your path, structured practice helps, and many candidates strengthen this common core through the best SSC coaching support available online. For affordable practice sets and exam wise books, you can browse the collection at Examophobia, and if you are still deciding which institute fits your budget, TheHinduZone lets you compare courses across cities.
If your target year is 2027 or 2028
Use this cycle as a live case study. Download this year’s question paper after July 12, attempt it in exam conditions and note the weightage of Marathi grammar, current affairs and aptitude. Begin your daily newspaper habit now and maintain a Maharashtra specific current affairs diary. Candidates who start a year early rarely struggle with the speed that this paper demands.
