Hello Friends!
As we all know that Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate level ( SSC CGL) exam is round the corner. SSC Conducts this exam every year to recruit candidates for Various Departments of Government.
From the year 2016 SSC has changed the pattern and Tier III (Descriptive) has been introduced instead of interview. The interview has been eliminated for these posts. A lot of Students are Nervous about the pattern of Tier III ( Descriptive), So this post is dedicated to describe the pattern of the exam in as simple manner as possible. Furthermore, We will be discussing indispensable strategies to crack and gain good marks in this section of Examination.
Exam Pattern of SSC CGL TIER III
- The Tier III Examination will be of 100 marks and will be descriptive in nature.
- The Descriptive type Exam will be conducted in Pen Paper mode only.
- Time Duration of Exam will be 60 minutes i.e Only 1 Hour will be denoted
- Exam will carry topics like Essay Writing/Letter Writing/Precis Writing.
- The marks gained in TIER III will be included in the Final merit and will be decisive of the merit.So a candidate should Equally focus this section also.
- The Mode of Writing will be both English and Hindi.
Strategies for Essay Writing-
- Essay writing comes with practice in right Direction. Remember, Rome wasn’t build in a day. So start implementing these tactics from now onwards.
- Daily Newspaper Reading – For Essay Writing a thought process is needed which is build by developing Comprehension Skills. Reading newspapers on daily basis helps in improving comprehension and learning new words.
- Reading Editorial helps in building Vocabulary. Vocabulary plays a Vital Role in comprehension. The Sources recommended are The Hindu Newspaper, The Indian Express, ssc.oureducation.in, etc.
- As we all know , Practice makes a man perfect, so one should practice atleast one essay in a day.
Strategies for Letter Writing-
- It involves thorough knowledge of the formats of various letters like Informal letter, formal letter, Business letter, Editorial letter etc.
- Short and smart writing impresses the Examiner , so try to keep letter short and to the point.
- In other words, use of one liners and one word substitution is expected.
- One should focus more on formal letters as they are important from Exam point of view.
Strategies for Precis Writing-
- Precis Writing refers to short and summarised way of writing.
- It is always recommended that the size of the Precis should not exceed the size of the Paragraph.
- Remember the first impression is the last impression. Therefore the Heading decided by you should be attractive and eye catching.
- Try to use attractive words and avoid repetition of words.
