Memory-Based Arithmetic Question
- The ratio of the speed of upstream and speed of the stream is 5:6. If the speed
of the stream is 30 km/hr. Find the speed of still water.
Sol. the speed of upstream and speed of the stream is 5:6
the speed of the stream is 30 km/hr. Speed of Upstream is 30/6 * 5 =25 km/hr
Speed of Upstream = (Boat speed – Stream speed)/2
25 =( x – 30 )/2 x = 80 km/hr
- Find the circumference of circle which is inscribed in a square with an area of
196 square metre.
Sol. Area of square is 196 sq.m side is 14 m.
Radius 14/2 = 7 m circumference of circle is 2 x 22/7 x 7 = 44 m
- A person sold 2 articles in 60000 each, on which he gained 20% profit and 20%
loss. Find the difference of cost prices.

the speed of the stream is 30 km/hr. Speed of Upstream is 30/6 * 5 =25 km/hr
Speed of Upstream = (Boat speed – Stream speed)/2
25 =( x – 30 )/2 x = 80 km/hr
- A and B can fill a tank in 10 days and A can fill an empty tank in 60 days so find
in how many days can B fill the empty tank
Sol. 1/10 – 1/60 = 1/12 12 days
- If the area of the Circle is 616 Sqm and cost of fencing the Wall is Rs 2/M, then what
is the total cost of fencing the wall?
Sol. R = √616/22 x 7 = 14 circumference = 2 x 22/7 x 14 =88 fencing = 88 x 2 = 176 m
- IF 2 is added to the numerator and 3 is added to the denominator, then ratio
become 1/3. Also, the difference between the numerator and denominator is 15.
