Scholarship for Indian Students at Peking University
Founded in 1898, the Peking University (PKU) is the first national university in the Chinese modern history. The Peking University now consists of five faculties namely Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Medicine and Information & Engineering. The University has 53 colleges and departments, and offers 120 undergraduate programs, 242 graduate programs, and 212 doctoral programs. While still emphasizing fundamental sciences, the university has paid special attention to the development of applied sciences. In October 2013, there were 14116 undergraduate students, 13665 postgraduate students and 8134 doctoral candidates. There were also approximately 3574 long – term international students from 116 different countries enrolled in various programs on campus, among which 2540 were Degree – Seeking students.
Peking University is also known for their outstanding research facilities and highly qualified teachers and researchers with extensive research interests and the in – depth knowledge. Today the University has 6441 full – time faculties, of whom 1,701 are professors and 2,037 are associate professors, along with 63 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 8 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. At present, Peking University has 11 national key laboratories, 86 state key laboratories, 2 national engineering research centers and 8 affiliated hospitals and health centers.
The Peking University library is the largest university library in Asia, with a collection of 9.0195 million books, as well as Chinese and foreign journals and newspapers. The library also serves as a comprehensive modern information center.
Many students from all over the globe seek to take admission in this university but unfortunately many are unable to do so due to different problems like financial need, etc. So the university has started the provision of scholarship for the international students who are meritorious, talented and due to financial need or some other problem can’t afford to take admission.
Given below are some of the scholarships available at the university for the international students for admission in Masters’ degree. Though the list contains mainly those scholarships in which Indian students are eligible.

1. Peking University Academic Excellence Scholarships
Eligibility: Any international Student
Basic Requirements: The candidate must be a regular student in their last highest qualification. They must obey all the Chinese laws and university rules, must get themselves registered within specified deadline, must study hard and get superior grades. They must have also great research abilities along with creative thoughts.
Scholarship Amount: 4,000 RMB to 15 students
How to Apply: The candidates need to apply through online mode. The candidates need to attach the international academic excellence proposal form, the transcript including the GPA of the previous qualification, two letters of recommendations from a teacher of the student and if any the list of published thesis. These all information of the candidates will be reviewed by the panel and according to that the selection is done. Then the list will be submitted to the office of the President for approval.
An important thing which is not to forget that the international students who would be receiving the scholarship from the Chinese government do not directly receive the scholarship. Instead they will be getting only a certificate of honor and a souvenir.
