The Asian Studies Center and the University Center for the International Studies announces the availability of a $10,000 tuition remission scholarship for the spring semester for the graduate students from India who want to pursue their study in any field from the University of Pittsburgh.  In order to assist in the development of the India Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, the tuition remission scholarship in University of Pittsburgh will be provided on a yearly basis in the near future.  Research should either focus on India, or should include India in a comparative perspective.

The purpose of the scholarship in University of Pittsburgh is to provide funding for the graduate students conducting research on the INPAC region. Awards will be approximately $500 – $1,000 depending upon the quality and the number of requests. But for this the students must be enrolled in an approved degree program at the University of Pittsburgh. How to apply:-

The application consists of a one-page research project proposal and research budget summarizing the applicant’s specific plans for use of the award. On a separate sheet of paper, list your name; address; phone number; e-mail address; major department; degree sought; adviser’s name and phone number. Awards will be determined by the INPAC Executive Committee.

Scholarship and Fellowship Application Form at University of Pittsburgh

The above application form must be attached with

  1. A cover letter with full contact information, including e-mail address.
  2. Applicant’s CV, with full information detailing the applicant’s academic background.
  3. A statement of purpose (5 pages maximum) explaining the scope and significance of the applicant’s current research.
  4. A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s academic advisor.

This letter needs to be submitted by e-mail to Katherine Carlitz, ASC Assistant Director for Academic Affairs, at kcarlitz@pitt.edu.

INPAC Tuition Remission Scholarship

The Asian Studies Center is pleased to announce that the INPAC (Indo-Pacific) Studies Tuition Remission Scholarship in University of Pittsburgh for the Pitt students. The INPAC Studies encompasses the Pacific Islands, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. The INPAC Studies award covers the in – state tuition expenses for one semester of full – time study at the University of Pittsburgh. The applicants must be currently – enrolled students at the University of Pittsburgh at the time of application and must have completed one academic year of their study by the inception of the award. This award is available to any graduate student, of any nationality, with a demonstrated interest in INPAC studies. The applications will be evaluated based upon the strength of the academic achievements and the commitment to the INPAC studies.
